TERRY DALTON
December 8, 1948 - March 23, 2007
"May you stay... Forever Young!"
Terry Dalton was one hell of an inspiration to his family, friends and fans around the Denver metro area and far beyond. I am so honored to have shared the
Dylan65 stage with a true legend. On March 21st of this year, Terry accepted the invitation to play Dylan66. Sadly, he passed away two days later.
His rendition of
Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" at last year's event was breathtaking. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Everyone who participated in Dylan65, the musicians, the audience, the crew -we all felt his magic that evening. His energy raised the bar for all of us to
give every ounce of soul we could muster into the show.
Although it appears that he has physically left us for a more
permanent gig, we accept that he will be with us this year in spirit. Dylan66 will be dedicated to Terry's legacy and there will be a special tribute
performed to honor him.
When I was in the midst of organizing the original Dylan65 event and frantically setting up rehearsals with
the more than 30 musicians who performed, a great thing happened. Mike Studeny brought me down to Lincoln's Roadhouse one night to work out some
tunes with Terry.
You see, we could never find a time or place to rehearse off stage anywhere. Terry was always at the bar... playing, drinking, doing his thing.
So Mike,
Terry and myself rehearsed live
on stage in front of the Lincon's crowd. We just called out 5 or 6 Dylan tunes to each other and ran through them right there.
Best rehearsal I've ever been a part of.
Thank you Terry!
